FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jaren Dahlstrom at the NW Reno Library Art Gallery

The Northwest Reno Library is proud to present the paintings of Jaren Dahlstrom in a one-person show titled Reflections: The Fractured Moment, July 8 to September 3, 2009. The reception for the artist is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2 to 3 PM. It is FREE and open to the public. Jaren's work explores the transitory illusions of light on water. His paintings examines these reflected surfaces that produce a transitory, never to be repeated, abstract reality of often mundane objects. It is out of this fusion of light and water that the mundane is infused with intense color, and dramatic contrasts, forging fantastic shapes and dramatic lines. It is this transitory abstraction that Jaren Dahlstrom paints what he calls "abstract reality". The artist has exhibited nationally and recent exhibits include a one-person exhibit at the Littman Gallery, University of Portland, Portland, OR and a three-person show at the San Pablo Arts Gallery in San Pablo, CA. Some comments left by visitors to the Littman Gallery show included: "Striking, bold & beautiful artwork, a joy to view & interact with...", "...True Artists reveal mystic truths after all...yet again...and all in the water.", and "There are things you cannot see when you stand close. The colors you chose are beauitful...the paintings have real soul."

Besides capturing the undulating, fleeting illusions of a liquid world the artist also "pushes" the color, moving in closer and closer, distorting forms and using the computer to transform a mundane, reflected image of an outboard motor, a canal house or a boat's cabin into a highly abstract version of reality that is sometimes familiar and yet often just outside the viewer's frame of reference. The paintings will be on exhibit at NW Reno Library Art Gallery, 2325 Robb Drive, Reno, NV during library hours.

Jaren Dahlstrom is available for a phone interview or for a press kit that includes several high resolution images, biography and additional information. Please, contact Jaren at 510.215.1743 to set up a convenient time.
